Audient Preamps EVOSP8 Editorial Review
The Audient EVO SP8 microphone preamp and AD/DA converter has made a notable impact among customers, who praise it for its exceptional quality relative to its price point. Users appreciate the device's performance, especially in studio settings where it enhances recording capabilities. One of its standout features, the "smart gain" function, has been positively received, particularly for its efficiency in setting the appropriate gain levels when recording drums. The unit's ease of installation and intuitive menu navigation contribute to a smooth user experience, making it accessible for both novice and experienced sound engineers. The digital display is well-reviewed, with users highlighting its utility in monitoring line levels. However, some customers have noted a limitation regarding the gain provided, specifically the +50dB output, which may not support newer, more sensitive microphones such as the Shure SM7B without additional gain needs. Overall, the Audient EVO SP8 serves as a strong addition to any recording setup, especially for those looking to expand their mic inputs without breaking the bank. It has earned recommendations from users who find its capabilities and price hard to beat. **
