『すずめの戸締まり』Blu-rayスタンダード・エディション Blu-ray

The Blu-ray standard edition of 『すずめの戸締まり』is a new offering from renowned director Shinkai Makoto. The story starts with a high school girl rescuing an attractive young man from a monster in her hometown, before embarking on an incredible journey to Tokyo with a magical cat named Daizin. The girl uses her smartphone to pay for everything along the way, making the journey feel both exciting and unrealistic. The movie focuses on the relationship between Daizin and the girl, and how it develops as they travel together. Some heart-warming moments include the cat's desire for affection and how the girl seeks advice and support from new people she meets. One of the standout features of this movie is the animation quality. For this Blu-ray edition, the producers put in extra effort to ensure quality in every detail. Over 273 shots were improved, giving viewers an exceptional visual treat. However, the storyline might leave some viewers disappointed as it's not as cohesive and compelling as some of Shinkai Makoto's previous works. It's no "Your Name" or "Weathering With You." Loyal fans might miss the signature Shinkai world-building, and the story might not be very relatable to some. Nonetheless, Shinkai Makoto remains a master storyteller, and even with its shortcomings, 『すずめの戸締まり』is worth watching.
