NooElec Radio Antennas YARD Stick One Bundle Editorial Review
The YARD Stick One is a radio device that is capable of transmitting and receiving signals, but is limited to specific frequencies near the ISM bands, making it legal to transmit on those frequencies without a license. However, the device cannot receive digital trunked signals that are frequently used by law enforcement agencies. The device has a maximum 100mW transmission output power and can transmit and receive all frequencies below 1GHz. The device may require additional software, plug-ins, and an in-depth understanding of radio traffic to use. There is a learning curve to using them, which is worth it. The device has an onboard transmission amplifier to enhance the output power. The device comes with a fixed-length antenna, but the ANT500 can be purchased separately. The device stopped functioning for one user after a week of use. Overall, the YARD Stick One is a useful gadget for people interested in manipulating sub 1GHz RF frequencies for purposes such as hobbyist work or pen-testing. However, it does have limitations in terms of its frequency range and its inability to receive digital trunked signals. It also requires additional software and knowledge to operate optimally.
