Rated: NR Format: DVD Music Videos & Concerts 09913523 Editorial Review
**** Goth: The Ultimate Collection is a must-have for dedicated fans of the goth and industrial music scenes. This impressive two-DVD set boasts over 55 clips featuring influential bands such as Christian Death, Psychic TV, and Lords of the New Church, presenting a rich tapestry of the genre's underground heritage. The collection is especially appealing to hardcore aficionados who appreciate the raw and unrefined aesthetic typical of the era portrayed in the clips. While the video quality varies, many viewers find it refreshingly authentic, capturing the essence of the punk-like spirit of goth music from around 1995. Reviewers noted that while some clips may look grainy—perhaps resembling handheld recordings—others are seen as well-produced, or "pro-shot budget clips," showcasing a clear understanding of the music and its roots. The audio quality has also received praise, providing a robust listening experience that complements the visual content with an emphasis on low-end frequencies, perfect for those who enjoy an immersive sound experience. Despite criticisms regarding the lack of external packaging and presentation, the substantial quantity of content offers great value, particularly for the price. However, it is worth noting that this compilation may not cater to casual listeners who may be put off by the repetitive nature of some tracks. Instead, it shines as a treasure trove for those deeply entrenched in the goth community—offering a unique glimpse into the past that should resonate with any self-respecting goth collector. **
