SEM Corrosion & Rust Inhibitors 45501 Editorial Review

The SEM 45501 Black Rust Trap has garnered a mixed reception among customers regarding its performance as a rust encapsulator. On one hand, several users commend its ability to create a super glossy finish without leaving brush strokes. When applied correctly, this product is praised for its ease of application and smooth coverage, making it a popular choice for those looking to achieve an aesthetically pleasing finish. However, users also noted some challenges when it comes to its effectiveness, particularly when applied directly over rust. Some report that it can be somewhat translucent, which might necessitate additional preparation such as removing surface rust or applying a primer coat beforehand for optimal results. A common sentiment among reviewers is that while the SEM Rust Trap provides a level of rust protection, it may not be the best standalone option compared to other products on the market, such as POR 15, which received superior ratings for its opacity and overall covering ability. For users looking for a robust rust-preventive solution, especially when starting on metal that may not be significantly rusted, a more thorough preparation or a different product might be advisable. Overall, while the SEM Rust Trap has its merits in terms of application and finish, potential buyers should Consider its limitations regarding coverage and translucency, and may want to weigh their options against competing products. **
