What is included in the Chemical Guys CLY700 Complete Clay System?

The Chemical Guys CLY700 Complete Clay System includes six essential items designed for an effective detailing experience. This set typically features a clay bar, a clay lube, microfiber towels, and applicators. The clay bar works to remove contaminants from your vehicle’s paint, while the lube helps facilitate smooth gliding, reducing the risk of scratches. It's ideal for detailing enthusiasts looking to achieve a smooth, clean surface for polishing or waxing.

How does the clay bar in the Chemical Guys CLY700 work?

The clay bar acts as a highly effective tool for removing surface contaminants, such as tree sap, industrial fallout, and road grime. When used with the accompanying clay lube, the bar glides over the paintwork, pulling off impurities without damaging the surface. For a successful detailing session, it’s advised to work on small sections of the vehicle at a time, ensuring that you frequently lubricate the area to keep the clay bar functioning effectively.

Can the Chemical Guys CLY700 be used on all vehicle surfaces?

Yes, the Chemical Guys CLY700 Complete Clay System is safe for use on all automotive surfaces including clear coat, paint, glass, and metal. However, it is important to first ensure the surface is clean from dirt and debris. This system is particularly beneficial for new or recently polished vehicles since it helps maintain a smooth and shiny finish by removing embedded contaminants that wash and wax alone cannot eliminate.

How do I maintain and store the clay bar after use?

To maintain the integrity of the clay bar, it’s important to store it in a clean, airtight container after use. Ensure it is clean and free of contaminants by kneading it into a new shape. This will help prevent any dirt from settling on the surface. A good practice is to place the clay in a ziploc bag with a bit of the clay lube to keep it moist, ensuring it's ready for your next detailing session.

Is it necessary to use a clay lube with the clay bar?

Yes, using a clay lube is essential for the effective use of the clay bar. The lubricant provides a smooth surface for the clay to glide over, minimizing friction and preventing scratches on the vehicle's paint. It also helps lift and remove contaminants more effectively. For best results, thoroughly apply the lube to the section being worked on, and remember to reapply as needed during the process.

How often should I use the Chemical Guys CLY700 Complete Clay System?

The frequency of use largely depends on your driving conditions and the environment your vehicle is exposed to. For routine maintenance, using the clay system every 3 to 6 months is a good rule of thumb. If you live in an area with high pollution, industrial fallout, or near tree-lined roads, you might find benefits in using it more frequently. Regular use can help maintain the vehicle’s surface and keep it looking new.

Is the Chemical Guys CLY700 Complete Clay System suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! The Chemical Guys CLY700 is designed for both novice and experienced detailers. It comes with detailed instructions making it user-friendly for those unfamiliar with car detailing techniques. The comprehensive nature of the set means that even beginners can achieve professional-looking results with a bit of practice, making it a great introduction to detailing.

What is the difference between the Chemical Guys Clay Bar and traditional clay bars?

The Chemical Guys Clay Bar is designed with a unique formula that enhances its effectiveness in lifting contaminants while remaining softer and more pliable than traditional clay bars. This allows for better manipulation and a smoother touch on vehicle surfaces. It’s specifically crafted to work in harmony with the Chemical Guys clay lubes, ensuring optimal performance and protection of the vehicle’s finish.

Can I use the Chemical Guys Complete Clay System on my motorcycle?

Yes, the Chemical Guys Complete Clay System is suitable for motorcycles as well. The same principles of removing contaminants apply to motorcycle surfaces, and the system can effectively help clean painted body parts and chrome. Just follow the same preparation and application process, and you’ll enjoy a smooth, clean finish on your motorcycle, enhancing both its appearance and durability.
