Scholastic Early Learning 334586 Editorial Review

**** Clifford The Big Red Dog Reading software has drawn a mixed yet largely positive reception among users, particularly parents and grandparents looking for educational tools for children aged three to five. Many reviewers highlighted the engaging graphics and fun activities, noting how these features have captivated young users. One grandparent expressed satisfaction with how this software serves as a stepping stone between the previously enjoyed Clifford Phonics and more advanced options, reaffirming its value for transitioning children. Parents noticed the varying difficulty levels of activities, where some children found it challenging enough to require assistance, while others, like a five-year-old mentioned in a review, enjoyed it despite it being slightly easy. The ability to navigate the game independently has been praised, with an emphasis on the clear navigation and helpful narration. However, there are significant drawbacks, particularly regarding compatibility issues with Mac systems. Many users expressed frustration over the misleading advertising and lack of clarity on system requirements, with some indicating that the software fails to function entirely on Macs. Additionally, some children were sensitive to the tone of certain activities, which struck them as harsh or too critical for their enjoyment. On the whole, there is a Consensus that when the software works, it has the potential to be a highly engaging and educational tool for young children, making learning to read a fun experience. The positive aspects often outweigh the negatives, especially for parents seeking to nurture early literacy in their kids. **
