Hermann Scherchen (Artist) Format: Audio CD Symphonies 2020-03-27 Editorial Review
This collection of Beethoven Symphonies 1-9 by Hermann Scherchen offers outstanding performances, despite some mixed opinions on the sound quality. The vintage sound is pleasantly restored, showcasing the musicians' risk-taking and heartfelt performances. Scherchen's interpretations of Beethoven's compositions are unique and explore the raw edges of the music, challenging traditional assumptions. The CD remastering by Deutsche Grammophon is superb, enhancing the listening experience. Overall, this set provides a compelling and unforgettable experience for those who can appreciate it.
